Megan + Ryan: A Thing for Spring

April is a special month for Megan and Ryan O’Donnell. Not only did they meet in April 2009, they were engaged the following April and married on April 30, 2011. You could say they have a thing for spring!

Megan, a second grade teacher and high school cross-country and track coach, agreed to go on a blind date set up by her hairstylist. She and Ryan, a driver for UPS, discovered they both shared a love for running, and have been side-by-side ever since!

When the two began planning their wedding, they agreed that blue and green should be the color scheme because it reminded them of their significant season: spring. From attire to decor, Megan and Ryan’s big day was decked out in playful blues and greens.

Megan and Ryan took advantage of The Green Kangaroo’s flexibility by ordering a customizable Pocket wedding invitation. The uncommon combination of periwinkle and grass inks turned out to be a downright delightful pairing! And the font selections made for a lovely balance of elegance and whimsy. Many of the couple’s vendors used the invitation as a reference for style and color.

Royal blue wedding party attire, blue and green hydrangea bouquets and centerpieces and blue cascading flowers on the wedding cake really helped bring the fresh, springtime vibe to life.

As it turned out, bride, groom and co. weren’t the only ones enjoying a cloudless, mid-70s spring day on April 30th… Right across the street from the church, the annual Spring Daze festival at Bond Park lead to some tricky traffic, to say the least! The nuptials were put on hold for the inevitable latecomers.

After the ceremony, everyone made their way over to Embassy Suites at Brier Creek for the reception. Megan describes some of the elements that made the evening especially unique:

“At the reception, we had a photo booth! Our guests loved it… Each guest got a print out of their strip of pictures and one was placed in our wedding scrapbook. [The] strips had a design with similar flowers, also in matching blues and greens from the invitations. We had our monogram displayed on a wall from a ceiling projector and [my] parents created a slide show with pictures from [our] childhood, followed by pictures of [us] together.”

Of all the fond memories from their wedding, the couple’s favorite moment was sharing their sacred vows in front of their family and friends.

Congratulations and best wishes to the O’Donnells! Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day. We hope you’ll let us know what April 2012 brings!!!
