Choosing a Wedding Style – The Traditional Wedding

The traditional couple will have their wedding day, and possibly even their wedding week planned to the last detail.  Their wedding invitations will be addressed with perfect etiquette and their vendors will be given a wedding timeline to make sure all the traditions they cherish are observed.  Traditional couples make wonderful hosts and go out of their way to welcome and thank their guests. They will have a receiving line or table visits, a first dance, bouquet and garter tosses.  The ceremony will feature a unity ceremony of some kind.

The Wedding Invitations and Stationery – Traditional wedding invitations will include inner envelopes and probably consist of one flat page. The small social graces invitations is a great way to stay simple and traditional.  Couples wanting a little more detail and personalization may choose designer love wedding invitations to showcase their personal style, while still being traditional and classic with a timeless wedding invitation.  Traditional couples may even take the time to insert tissue paper into the invitations for nostalgia.

The Arrangement, Elements, and Location – The traditional wedding cannot be mistaken for any other kind of party even when only seen in a snapshot or in a passing glance.  Floor length linens, place cards, table numbers and a seating chart are often all present in a traditional wedding.  The ceremony may take place in a church in most cases with the reception being catered.  A DJ or band will play while the bride and groom are announced as the new Mr. and Mrs. and begin their first dance.  Flowered centerpieces are also popular for traditional wedding receptions.

The Attire – The traditional bride usually wears white and carries a bouquet.  She often wears a veil or hat as well.  The bridesmaids will all match either in color, style or even both. The groomsmen will wear tuxes or suits matching or complementing the groom and will have boutonnieres on their breasts to complement the bridesmaids’ bouquets.

The Favors and Gifts – Traditional favor boxes with after dinner mints or Jordan almonds are often used by these couples, with a tag saying thank you or featuring the couple’s favorite verse. The bridesmaids may receive jewelry or tote bags full of goodies from the traditional bride.  Groomsmen may be gifted with flasks, mugs, pocket knives or cufflinks by the traditional groom.  These items are often personalized or engraved.
