Vintage weddings are getting more and more popular and will continue to do so this year. Dresses and décor are reflecting this tend beautifully but how do you incorporate the speakeasy feel into your wedding transportation? Here are some great ideas to get that vintage look and feel with your wedding day wheels.
- Go retro. Does someone in your family have a restored vintage corvette? Why not use that instead of a limo. Renting or borrowing a classic car is a classy way to make an entrance. Corvettes, Rolls Royces and Cadillacs are just the start of the possibilities.
- Take the trolley. Rent a trolley and have the whole wedding party arrive in style. Make sure you get a look at the companies trolleys before you sign a contract so you can verify that they complement the look you are trying to accomplish.
- Go Eco vintage. Decorate a bicycle for two with flowers and a bright paint job. It is a great photo opportunity and environmentally friendly. Choose colors and flowers that complement your wedding colors. Place playing cards in the spokes or bells and horns on the bicycle as noisemakers to add to the jovial atmosphere of your departure. It is probably a lot less expensive than some other alternatives. This will only work for a short distance so you may choose to just ride the bike to your waiting car down the block.
- Look into limos. Limousines have come a long way. Stretch hummers and other options may give you the look you want. Ask for pictures of available vehicles and not just their vital stats when signing with a limousine company.
You can always add vintage touches to your own car. Strings of tin cans, streamers and messages written in shaving cream are old traditions that still add fun touches to the wedding couples transportation. A hand decorated “just married” sign or a sign that has the couples name and good wishes written on it is also a great way to add an old fashioned feel to your wedding transportation.
Make sure when planning your transportation you consider how many people you want to transport. A vintage car is great for the wedding couple but won’t work for the entire bridal party. Make sure you arrange alternate transportation for the rest of your party.
