Carnival Craze

There are probably a bazillion amazing themes for kids parties these days. I can’t stop gathering ideas! Of them all, carnival themed parties seem to truly “take the cake”! The adorable, festive nature and limitless cuteness makes it a go-to party theme for boys and girls alike.

From our favorite magazines and blogs to television shows, the 2011 National Stationery Show and even to our very own backyards, we are spotting carnival inspired parties and goodies just about everywhere. We couldn’t be more pleased!

Though the TGK focus is generally geared toward weddings, we jump at the opportunity to let our creative juices flow and design items for other events. We were all more-than-a-little excited when Valerie Curran, the Owner/Event and Talent Director at Elevate in Raleigh, NC contacted us to design an elaborate, custom birthday party invitation for Sadie’s Country Carnival. Held at Green Acres Farm in Cary, NC the birthday girl celebrated her big day in high style, with a dunking booth, a dog show and a 5 foot tall cake!  Sadie (pictured below, to the right), was so excited to be turning 6 that she personally handed out her TGK invitations, complete with popcorn attached, to her friends! Sadie’s over-the-top carnival was featured on TLC’s Outrageous Kid Parties earlier this year.

Sadie’s planner, Valerie, shared her thoughts on this hot party theme, saying, “Carnival themed parties are all the rage for children’s birthday parties! The theme is broad enough that you can give it your own spin…you can go vintage, country, circus or state fair. Color options are unlimited. A carnival themed party can be planned with a small budget, in a backyard, with simple foods like popcorn and corn dogs. Or they can be taken to the extreme with rides and petting zoo and bbq. The sky is the limit. A carnival is always a crowd-pleaser with kids and adults alike.”
