Printing Process:

Thermography - The process involves heat that joins ink and a resin-like powder together. The fusion of the materials results in the appearance of raised letters. This printing process is fast-becoming the most popular choice for invitations, because of its value and quality of appearance. This is the most affordable print process if you are looking for classic, elegant "raised" printing.

Letterpress - Letterpress continues to be one of the hottest trends in stationery.  It's been around for hundreds and hundreds of years. Letterpress is an ancient printing technique that involves printing words or designs with ink while simultaneously debossing the image into thick, soft paper. The letterpress look is elegant, stylish, high-end and nothing short of stunning.

Engraving - The paper is placed on the press face down above the inked plate. It is then printed by pressure coming down on the back of the sheet while the front of the sheet meets with the plate. This "sandwich" effect creates the raised lettering and bruise on the back of the printed paper that are both classic features of engraver.

Foil Stamping -  Printing process that fuses foil to paper. A thin layer of foil is pressed between a piece of paper and a heated die. The image on the die cuts and heats the foil, binding it to the paper. You might be thinking of mylar ballons when you think of the word "foil".  But don't be fooled.  You can find many matte-ink colors such as white or cream, which produces a gorgeous invitation.

Mygatsby was one of the pioneers of the "stacked" enclosure cards!  We created these cards specifically so these accessory cards would complement your invitation stylishly yet with function.

Small Enclosure Card: 4.25"x4.50"

  • This card is typically used as a Reception Card, Ceremony Card, Gift Registry or At-Home Card, or for any "simple" information you might be trying to deliver to your guests.

RSVP card w/ envelope: 4.25"x5.50"

  • RSVP is derived from the French phrase, repondez s'il vous plait, meaning "respond if you please." It is a polite way of requesting a response to the invitation. It allows you to have an accurate guest count and can even help with allowing your guests to choose meal options, or any other information you will require in planning your reception.Mygatsby also nclude your name and return address printed on the envelope (or postcard  for our smaller invitations) to make it easier for invited guests to respond. Traditionally, the sender provides postage, to make it easier for your guests to respond.

Large Enclosure Card: 4.25"x6.50"

  • This card is typically used as a Directions Card, Accommodations Card, or any additional detailed information you might be trying to deliver to your guests.

Customer Reviews

Great service, quality invitation
I ordered these invitations and inserts for my wedding which took place in New Orleans. I used the black thermography ink and they turned out lovely. Very elegant and classy. I really liked the raised feel of the ink as I felt it made the invites appear more expensive. The script font I chose was a little thin in places which I knew could happen with the thermography, but I'm sure I'm the only one that really noticed.

We did use the bow.. My fiance turned out to be excellent at tying perfect bows! : )

And as others have said, the mailing cost is high due to the size of the envelope. Several were returned to me for extra postage (more than the $1.12 needed at the time of mailing) because some post offices considered it too large to be called a letter.. They were considering it a "parcel". I only had trouble with one city.. Just unfortunate luck that we had a few invitations going to that one city. All that being said, I loved that our invitations were square and larger than the standard invite. I felt it made them special and unique.

We also lined the inner envelope ourselves for an added personal touch. It was easy to create a template and we used a photo from our engagment shoot.

It's a lot of work to do your own invitations but I felt the savings made it worth it and I think these still felt like custom, high quality invitations. Review by New Orleans Wedding / (Posted on 3/11/2014)
I love my invitations!
I love these invitations. I ordered a sample of one before ordering all of my personalized invitations, and I am very please with the way they turned out. Unfortunately, it costs a little more to mail them because of the size, but they are really great quality. I wasn't crazy about the large bow, but they come with the invitation. The ribbon is supplied on spools in whichever color you choose. It is not pre-cut and tied into a bow, but the invitations look just fine (better) without the bow. Because the ribbon is included, we will likely use it in the floral arrangements. I chose the thermography ink and the ecru paper. There are a lot of color and font options to personalize the invitations which we appreciated. Also, the envelopes are provided with inner and outer envelopes. The inner envelopes can be lined which was great as well. They do not offer too many color options for the lining, but it really looks great with the black that we chose. I would definitely recommend these invitations (just be aware of the cost of mailing - I priced the mailing cost on the sample that was provided to get a good idea). They are a wonderful quality and look fantastic! Review by Bridget / (Posted on 3/3/2014)
Beautiful Invitations
The invitation is very elegant. It makes a great first impression upon opening. The only negative is the postage to mail these invitations. Review by pamcakes / (Posted on 12/19/2013)
