2016 Wedding Trends

2016 is going to be a great year for weddings. There are new dresses, new invitations,  new flowers, new decor – all these new trends to watch for as wedding season comes. So, how is it going to change? Well, it’s not necessarily going to be a huge change, in terms of too many things, but the one thing that we are seeing in the new year is that brides want to be unique.

A lot of the weddings that you have seen in the last few years have probably all looked somewhat similar, thanks to everyone’s favorite wedding planning idea guide – Pinterest.  But, in 2016, brides are going to want to stand out more than ever. That doesn’t mean that Pinterest is not going to be utilized, but brides are looking for more and more ways to add their personal touches.

  1. Metallics

Metallics are going to be huge this year for weddings. Metallics can surprisingly be extremely versatile, depending on how you use them. If you want them to be elegant, they can be. But they can also be neutral. The intensity of the metallic just depends on what look you are going for and how you use them. If you use them as an accent piece, they won’t overpower the rest of your color palette.

  1. Boho Brides

Brides are going way from the princess look and going for a more natural look. Think flowers, crowns, flowy wedding dresses, and gorgeous succulent flower bouquets.

  1. His and Her Cocktails

Sometimes, having an open bar can be a total budget killer. One way that you can combat that and, at the same time, show off your personality is by having his and her cocktails. This is an instant way to add a touch of uniqueness to your wedding. Just make sure that whatever cocktails you and your significant other choose are a good representation of the two of you. It doesn’t matter if it is random, and you don’t know if other people will like them. As long as you like them, that is all that matters.

  1. Wild Flowers

Beautiful wildflowers are going to be show stoppers this year. Brides are less worried about having perfect roses and are more in tune with nature. Flower arrangements for 2016 are going to feature flowers that are in season and which stand out with the rest of the color palette. Also, floral arrangements and bouquets for this year will focus on pops of colors and a ton of texture to bring them out even more.

  1. Multiple Desserts

Again, brides are moving away from the more traditional selection when it comes to the dessert at the wedding. No longer do brides feel like they have to serve a traditional wedding cake. Instead, more and more couples are planning on serving desserts that are special to them. Whether it will be cupcakes or pies, or both, as long as the dessert is something that you and your significant other want to eat, that is all that matters.

  1. More Intimate Dinners

Sometimes more isn’t always better. One trend to look for in 2016 is that of smaller more cozy affairs. Couples are starting to move away from the 500 person guest list in favor of a more intimate wedding. This is one time that quality is valued over quantity. Couples want their wedding day to be a special affair for those who are the most important to them. Therefore, numbers are coming down in order to make more memorable times for the guests.

  1. Mismatched Bridesmaids

In 2016, more and more brides are going to be allowing their bridesmaids to wear different styles. It is no longer mandatory that bridesmaids wear the exact same thing and have the exact same hair. And, why should they? All of your bridesmaids are different people with different styles and body styles, and by allowing them to choose their own dress, the more likely that they are to feel better about themselves and have fun. It’s a pretty cool look to have different styles all together in a row. However, you might not want to let them have free range and end up with ten different color and styles. Make sure that all of your girls coordinate and they – at least – harmonize.
