Whether you’re already referring to your fella as “fiance” or you’re hoping he’ll pop the question soon (c’mon already!), we’ve gathered some clever ideas to help you show off that ring! Because once you’ve said yes, and jumped up and down a few times, and kissed, and maybe cried… showing off the bling is the next most exciting part. That and staring at it each and every day!
If you plan an engagement shoot, your photographer will probably have some wonderful ideas of their own for capturing a striking shot of your ring, but it certainly won’t hurt to have some as well. And, to be honest, you don’t need a professional to take these — you can stage a lovely shoot of your own, right at home.
How to style a creative engagement ring photo:
- Think about what is personal to you as a couple. The musical images above are creative, showing off your interests at the same time. Scrabble tiles are trendy, but what other games do you like to play? Maybe you could incorporate those. Bring in props that show your personality!
- Consider how you’d like to use the photo. Ring shots would work perfectly on photo save the dates — holding hands is such a sweet image to show that you’re engaged, while your ring marking your wedding date on a calendar is clever and informative too.
- Get your nails done. This is a good tip whether or not you’re photographing your hand — everyone’s still going to be looking at it!
- If you’re staging your own shoot, do it outside. You can’t beat natural light.
