Keeping them busy can be your biggest worry when it comes to child guest’s. They’re busy people, so provide plenty to do.
Run to the races:
For a daytime wedding hosted with a lot of outdoor space, host a game day for the kids. Hire a babysitter or assign an adult to assist the children in games and races. From three-legged races to pass the egg on the spoon, your child guests will have a field day and wear themselves out in the process. Be sure to have goody bags for each child to take home. Give each participant a small trophy inscribed with something like “Stephany and Travis Wedding Day Participant 2011”
Ask the Pros:
Hiring a professional entertainer can really take the pressure off of you and the children’s parents and babysitter(s). Check in with local entertainment groups to see what is offered in your area. There are a variety of entertainers to choose from; child comedians, balloon artists, magicians, face and body painters, clowns and impersonators. Take in account the ages of the children attending. The younger the child the shorter the attention span. So if you have room try and incorporate a coloring station nearby the entertainment for the wandering little one.
