Where your guests are placed at the table can make or break your event. The last thing you want is to have two people who don’t get along stuck sitting side by side. The art of a good seating arrangement lies in knowing your guests. You want to pair your guests so that they can bring out the best in each other. Here are a few seating tips to try:
- Seat the party hosts at opposite ends of the table. This will help when it’s time to serve the meal.
- Seat couples across from one another instead of side by side. This encourages them to talk to the guests beside them instead of spending the entire evening talking to each other.
- Place opinionated diners at different ends of the table. The last thing you want is to have your dinner party ruined by a debate or argument.
- Place shy diners beside a more outgoing person. If two shy people are beside each other there won’t be a lot of conversation. If a shy person is sitting beside someone who is more outgoing they will be encouraged to interact with the group.
