Getting in Shape for Your Wedding Day

A lot of brides decide that they want to get in better shape before their wedding day. For some that means dropping three dress sizes, others may just want to tone up in areas, like your arms, for those beautiful strapless gowns.

If you are one of those brides, be sure to read up on different ways to shape up before the big day. Too much research is never a bad thing.

Setting Goals

The first step in losing weight is setting a realistic target goal. You should visit with your doctor first and ask them what the recommended weight is for a person of your height and body structure. Your doctor should be able to provide you with information regarding weight loss and maintenance along with information on making healthy food choices

Visit your local gym and ask to speak with a personal trainer. Many times you can speak with someone who will take your Body Mass Index (BMI) and put you through a fitness test. Once finished, they can talk to you about areas that need improvement and the best exercises to implement. At most gyms, you do not have to sign up to work with the trainer every time you work out. But, can pay for this one time service and then outline a work-out regime on your own time.

Getting Support

Ask your maid of honor to help keep you on track and provide you with positive support. Losing weight and toning muscles is not always a super pleasant task, but it should not make you upset and miserable all the time. You need to remain upbeat and excited about not only fitting in your beautiful gown but, being a healthier person.

Better Food Choices

The old rule of shopping around a grocery stores perimeter and not going down the middle aisles is all but void anymore. Grocers are placing new and high profile items on those perimeters in order to catch their customer’s eye. Just because it’s new and on the outside wall does not mean it is healthy for you.

With that being said, go for eating as many natural non-processed foods as possible. The first step to getting in shape is watching what type of food you are ingesting into your body. Those frozen meals that boast being good for you, may be in some ways but many have high amounts of sodium which aids in packing on water weight. Convenient, inexpensive foods are often over-processed foods that contain high amounts of calories.
When in doubt the more natural the better.

Skip the soda and coffee as much as you possibly can. We understand you have to stay awake but, replacing a couple of those sodas with water will really aid in making your body healthier which will help you lose excess weight. Also, we promise eventually drinking water will give you more energy because your body will be better hydrated!

Maintaining Your New Habits

Many women, not just brides can lose a nice amount of weight only for it to come back plus a few pounds a short time later. Taking care to not fall victim to the yo-yo affect diets is important. The last thing you want to do is drop the weight a month before the wedding and then have it come right back with a vengeance after your honeymoon.

Keep focused, and surround yourself with people who will love and support you making healthy decisions. Also, keep trying that dress on every time you lose some weight so you can see how far you have come.

More important than fitting into the dress is maintaining a healthy lifestyle so that you have many, more years to celebrate your marriage!
